Assistant
Public Defender Joseph Krakora is widely acknowledged as the agency’s
premier capital litigator and has led the defense in capital murder
cases throughout the state. He was named Assistant Public Defender
in January 2003 and serves as Director of Capital and Special
Litigation. He also oversees the Office of Dispute Settlement
and several trial regions.
Mr. Krakora previously was a trial attorney assigned to the Essex
County Region, and specialized in capital murder cases there and
in other regions.
He first joined the NJOPD in 1986 and rose to the First Assistant
Deputy position in Essex. After practicing in the private sector
from 1997-2000, Mr. Krakora returned to the agency and public defense
work. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Cornell University
Law School. |
